7/23/2005 - Teepeed my bucky.

Every time I think I have a handle on something someone proves me wrong. I don't know weather to thank them or develop a complex...........

Got the bucky ribs and shoulders covered with toilet paper mache last night. Man that was a mess. Looks like that will be the last time I try using my glue and cornstarch mache goup with toilet paper as the body of a prop.. I can't imagine how Vlad was able to get that inside his skull mold. Better man than I. Stuck to everything and spread like Jell-O. I ended up using almost the entire roll. Probably take a week for that to dry. It's good for the 'flesh' but not good for the 'base' of the prop. I think the next time I'll strip some news paper and go that rout. And go ahead and make the cooked flower,salt and water mache goup. Then, if I need to flesh it out, I'll use toilet paper.

 

I think I'll wait till this one is dry and start over before I post a how-to. What I'm looking for is an easy way to make lots of corpse like light weight torsos. I'd like to have at least three for ghosts I'll have 'floating' from the trees. And three more for the walk through crypt if I can get it built. I've used cardboard strips and rolled news paper for ribs before and have had great results. But for each body I have to make a form out of news paper. Then unstuff this when the prop is done enough to support it's own weight. Just wanted to try this to see if things would move a bit faster. Doesn't look that way right now.

 

Haven't done anything else with the coffin. Might work on that after I get up later on. Yep, haven't been to bed yet. Up all last night. I did get all the branches cut off the tree I fell with an ax over a week ago. Did it with a hand saw under the light of the moon. Give the neighborhood something else to freak about. LOL
