Breath of life

Posted on 10/18/2006 at 6:41 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, things a little bit better than before.  I moved into a house in St. Charles, Illinios and the landlord was kind enough to let me bring some groundbreakers and put them in his yard.  So Halloween won't be the same but at least it isn't a lost cause.  I have few picutres below.  So I am still fighting to stay alive.  I know I said in the last blog that it was my last but hopfully I can continue.

I had a gentleman from the local paper contact me about my haunt.  Of course this year is shot to hell, but maybe next year.  The wife had told me that she is hopfully that I will be coming home by next Halloween.  It all depends on us and if we can work things out.  I hope so.  So I guess I will cross my fingers for next Halloween then.

Last blog entry

Posted on 9/13/2006 at 10:34 PM by Deathtouch - Link

It looks like this will be my last entry at blogcrypt.  The wife and I have decided to get a divorce after 5 years.  That means no more Halloween prop making for me.  I will miss writing in my blog; it was something I truly loved to do.  I will miss my dogs and the fun times I had. Thank you everyone for all the kind comments over the years.  I will treasure it always.  My props were left back at ex-wife’s house.  Maybe she will get into Halloween without me. LOL.

TV Show confirmed

Posted on 9/12/2006 at 1:33 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I got an email back from the rep from HGTV and it looks legit.  I also contacted WormyT, who has done this sort of thing before and showed her the letter.  She tells me this is the same way she was contacted and that it is legit.  So in the next email that the rep from HGTV sent me, she needed some information about my house, me, and my haunt.  I wasn't to sure about the sq. feet of the house, so I put on N/A on that.  My wife who has lived in this house all her life even doesn't know the sq feet.  So I sent her a recent picture of me,which was taken by WormyT by the way.  Also a picture of the witch that I am making for this year.  There is a chance that I might not get on the program, but also a chance that I might.  Gotta cross those fingers.  I took the day off to clean up the house a little.  Just in case I get picked.  If I don't get picked, there is always next year or the Christmas program.  LOL.  I have a lot of people cheering me on at hauntforum.com so I hope I don't let them down.

DT on TV

Posted on 9/8/2006 at 11:30 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I have bit of some news today.  I don’t know how legit this is, but I got an email from a lady representing HGTV that wanted to come to my home and film my haunt this year.  Like I said, I am not sure if this isn’t just spam but I thought I would reply.  You just never know now a days if people are pulling pranks.  She goes on saying that HGTV is producing a new show this year called "What's With That Really Haunted Halloween House?" with host George Grey.  It is a spin off “What’s With That House?”  So, I thought I would contact her and see what is up.  I will keep you informed if anything plausible happens.  It might be kind of cool if it is.

Witch is getting there

Posted on 9/6/2006 at 6:37 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Since I had time this weekend to work on the witch, I drape the cloth on her, just to see what it might look like.  Also messed with the motors to see if there would be any problems.  Of course the hood doesn't want to stay on.  I might have to do something different like attach it to the head in some way or form.  The face is still under work.  My wife still has to fix the face and then she will apply latex.  I need to do something different to her cloths, but what?  Maybe muck it up a bit.  So, here is a picture of the witch as of last weekend.  I can't wait to put this out.  I have already had people driving by with big smiles on their faces.  So, I think the witch is starting to shape up a bit.  As you can see, I took this picture after a rain storm, so the witch looks like a wet puppy.  I had her hair dropped over her face.  Now it is just stuck to her face. LOL.

I just about got my groundbreakers done.  I only made three this year.  Still have the 5 from last, so that makes 8.  The witch is almost done, just need a few finishing touches.  Maybe if you are good I will provide pictures.  LOL.  Here is a picture of my groundbreakers.  The guy on the right still needs some work, but almost there.

Panic sticken days

Posted on 8/28/2006 at 9:41 AM by Deathtouch - Link

This weekend wasn't as prosperous as I had hoped.  It rained all weekend and we had family issues that needed fixing, so that kind of killed the weekend work.  I did find some cloths for the witch and I worked on some more radio voiceovers for my Halloween radio, and I have another ground breaker that I am working on.  Here is the latest picture of him. I call him Herb.  My wife is going to kill me for getting glue on the table, but I bought another one so it should be good. LOL.

Trouble with light controller

Posted on 8/22/2006 at 6:22 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, I had a little trouble with the light controller.  I found out just a little too late that when you are writing macro and don't include delays then the controller will continue to run the program but won't allow you to update the program.  Which really sucks.  So I had to break out another controller that I had, and download the program to it.  This time I put delays in it.  It worked ok.  Needs a little work on some of the fade ins but I think I will get it work.  The other control will have to be sent back to be reprogrammed there.  Here is a short video on my progress on the lights for the witch.

Another busy weekend

Posted on 8/21/2006 at 8:56 AM by Deathtouch - Link

It was another busy weekend.  While I was waiting for my power cord for my transmitter, I was messing around with some audio tracks that I was going to use to broadcast as a station id.  I am getting help from a professional who does this for Christmas broadcasts, so yes it will cost me a little bit of cast.  But not much.  This is his first attempt at Halloween, but he is doing a fine job.  I got the first one this past week and was adding different effects on it, just to see what it would sound like.  Here is a same of a station ID that I was messing with.  The music is from Virgil’s CD.

www.deathtouchhorrors.com/Welcome2.mp3

As you can see by the picture below, it was a really busy week.  I started working on my Pumpkinrot scarecrow, I got the witch’s hands done; along with part of the body, the motor was modified a little due to mechanical problems, testing my light controller with the cauldron’s lights, making sure the ladle doesn’t hit the witch in the head, and I got done with a corpse seen in the picture below

And then there was more work.

Posted on 8/14/2006 at 8:29 AM by Deathtouch - Link

So today I got an email that the Transmitter has been shipped.  I am trying to add a few plug-INS to Winamp so it will act like a DJ.  Then I can throw a whole bunch of songs in Winamp and let it be my Halloween Disc Jockey.  It should be cool if I can get it to work.  If not, back to my wireless speaker, which I normally sit out in the yard.

I also started construction of my Pumpkinrot scarecrow.  I bought some wood and I built the stem on the head yesterday.  Still needs painting.  But I am hoping to get this project done soon.

Starting on Friday I started construction of my witch for the cauldron.   Also bought some amber lights from Romans; they now have their Halloween and Christmas stuff up.  So far, I have the main frame up and the motor is part-way working.  It still needs a little more.  My wife even pitched in and helped with the Witch’s face.  She found my stash of clay and went to work on her.  She really looks cool the way she has the face.  Sorry, no pictures.   I was so busy this weekend I didn’t have time to take any.

My Halloween Radio

Posted on 8/11/2006 at 12:31 PM by Deathtouch - Link

A few years ago I had a Transmitter from Ramsey that would broadcast my Halloween music for people to hear when they were looking at my display.  Well my dog kind of made it not work any more.  If you know what I mean.  I was trying to save up to buy another one but it doesn't look like it is going to work out.  So I did the best next thing.  I bought a Belkin TuneCast II Transmitter.  Now you are thinking that there is no way this tunecast is going to reach out that far, so the passer bys can listen.  Well, that is true if I didn't modify it to work.  There is a hack for the Tunecast that will allow it to broadcast 300-500 feet.  I have a couple of friends who did the same thing and it worked great.  So, now I am going to do the same.  It will be cool to be able to have the radio station again.

Cauldron near complete

Posted on 8/6/2006 at 8:12 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I did a lot of work on the cauldron Friday, Sat, and Sun.   A lot of painting and detail work.  I also got the motor working with the witche's ladle.  I didn't get to paint all of the ladle yet, but it will be done soon. If you look at the rings on the cauldron notice what is holding them.  Yes, I made hands to hold them.  The look ok.   I also started work on the witch's head, which will look like the Pumpkinrot witch.  You can guess that this witch will be a combo of ScareFX's cauldron and Pumpkinrot's witch.  The best of both worlds.  Here is a photo of what I got done so far.

Hearse BBQ

Posted on 7/30/2006 at 8:01 PM by Deathtouch - Link

This weekend my wife and I were invited to a hearse BBQ.  I must say it was good eats for all. For hearse drivers they sure can cook.  There were a few haunters there beside me.  That would be the 1st picture below.  Donna.  I forgot her haunt name.  Sorry Donna!  There are also a few links to some pictures I took while I was leaving.

Also this weekend I had time to work on my cauldron some more.  I added hands to the sides which will hold the rings for the chains.  Now, I know the rings are a bit big, but I will fix that.  I also bought a few more foam skulls for the front.  ScareFX is never going to produce another prop after see what I did to his awesome witch prop.  Well, you know me, I can just copy it with messing with it just a bit.  Of course, wait till I get the witch on there.  Then tell me what you think.  LOL.

More Detail on Cauldron

Posted on 7/26/2006 at 4:54 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Tonight I started working on the cauldron's base, which is a few 2x8s.  But I ran into a small problem.  The screws that I bought to hold it together were just a little bit small.  It didn't get put together.  I did, on the other hand, put some foam skulls that I bought on the front of the cauldron.  Next I am going to make latex fingers for the cauldron's handles.  I think it might look cool.  Here is a night shot.

Also, Larry from Halloweenforum has started up www.sinisterspace.com.  I had to sign up. It is pretty cool.  Check it out.  My sinisterspace is http://www.sinisterspace.com/Deathtouch

Witchy poo, where are you?

Posted on 7/23/2006 at 9:12 PM by Deathtouch - Link

This weekend I worked on my scarecrow for a little bit and my animatronic witch's caldron.   I didn't get an updated picture of my caldron, but here is the start.  You can guess my wife said something about the nice black ring on the patio.  Oppss.  Crap!  The first shows that I had a few gaps in the top foam piece.  Well, as I was at the home hardware store, I found a larger piece.  Oh, goodie.  The piece just about made it all the way around, but I was able to fix that little problem.  You maybe wondering what those little pieces sticking out on the sides of the caldron.  Well, they are from work.  They are a fire detector cap.  They did have larger ones, but I went with the small cap.  I thought it did ok; I might have to make sure they are glued down right.  I also started working on the motor that goes inside.  I almost got it done.  Will have to show you it working some time.

For anyone that noticed, Hauntforum has another contest.  This time the scarecrow contest. Already members have started working on their scarecrows, so I thought I better start on mine.  I kind of ran out of time today, but the picture below show the early workings of my scarecrow.  I know, it doesn't look like a scarecrow.  I am working on that.  It will, I promise.

Update:  Witch Caldron:  I think I need more black paint and I need to fill in gaps on caps before I move on.

Creepcast Radio

Yesterday I got an email from a DragonLady Sue about a new Halloween internet broadcast that talks about all things Halloween.  Like making tombstones, home haunters, music and sound effects, and etc.   I was able to tune in last night, and it really was good.  He was talking about how the term Jack-o-latern came to pass and etc.  You will have to check it out if you have time.  You can listen to it on his site or download it free on Itunes.  Check out the site.

My new friend Timmy!

Posted on 7/16/2006 at 10:33 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Remember the corpse I was making for my tombstone.  Well, I have been working with him a little.  So that he doesn't look as happy.  He is now part sluch latex and paper mache.  He is the only prop I had a chance to work on this week.  I call him Timmy!  From SouthPark.  I know, too much SouthPark.

Just too cute

Posted on 7/9/2006 at 10:10 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I got a little done this weekend.  I worked on my caldron and my corpse for my tombstone.  The problem with the corpse is that his face is just a little too cute for me.  So after taking this picture I tore part of the upper face off to work on his tude.  If you know what I mean.  He just doesn't have that, "I am going to come over there and get you!" look.  It is more like, "I am coming over there to give you a big kiss."  Which I don't like at all.  I guess it is back to research and dev. for me.  Here is the picture I had at the end of the day.

Got 3rd place on contest but still lost

Posted on 7/8/2006 at 4:43 PM by Deathtouch - Link

The good news is I tied for third place in the tombstone contest at Hauntforum.com.  Bad news is contest rules state that if a tir occurs, than a coin toss shall determined the winner.  So the bad news is that I lost the coin toss and the contest.  Bummer… But I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.  I really didn’t think I would get that many votes in the first place, so it was really awesome to see all the votes for my tombstone.  I do wish they had at least mentioned my name at the end.  Since I did at least tie for third. Kind of like honorable mention.  Just something to say I got in the top 3 but loss on a coin toss.  It sounds better.. But what can you do?  Oh, well back to haunting.  I would like that congratulate heresjohnny for 1st place, Dr Morbius for 2nd place, and Krough for 3rd place.

So I was minding my own business today when all of a sudden my wife appears magically and gives me this gift.  To me, this is the gift of Halloween.  Why?  Because it gives me ideas says I.  This thing is awesome.  It spins around with different colors of LED light.  It is perfect for my new prop.  What prop you say?  I guess you will have to find out later.  Ahahahahahah.

Cross to bare

Posted on 7/6/2006 at 12:41 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Since I saw a few hauntforum members try to building some crosses, I thought I would do the same.  I just did a quick cross last night.  It still needs a little paint, but it coming out nicely.  I think I will build a few more with out the foam skull on top.  Since I ran out of foam skulls.

Corpse in front of tombstone

Posted on 7/3/2006 at 10:41 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I have been working on a corpse for the front of my tombstone.  He is starting to look ok.  I am also thinking about using this same method and paper mache to create my ScareFX witch.  Here is a picture as of today.

hauntforum Tombstone Contest

Posted on 7/1/2006 at 8:04 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Today started the voting for hauntforum's Tombstone contest.  I was able to get mine in, luckily.  If you have time, check it out.  Here.  It has been an uphill battle with it.  I think I spent maybe a few hours on it total, even the painting.  I also updated my website with Ironstock pictures.  I think the website needs a little more sound.  If you know what I mean.

Speaking of sound, I am planning on sending a video of this year's haunt to Hauntforum.com.  They are planning on doing like the Halloween-L video DVD thing.  Everyone will send in his/her video and then people can buy the dvd to help raise money for the forum.  I don't normally believe in helping out like this, but Hauntforum is a very good site.  It kind of makes you feel at home.  That is why I like it so much.  If you have time, check it out.  www.hauntforum.com  So, anyway before I get sidetraked, I talked to Virgil Franklin from http://www.virgilmusic.net/ at Ironstock.  He has some really nice scary music that he sells.  He actualy produces his own music.  Well, we got talking and I was asking him if he had any upbeat dark tracks.  Well, normally dark tracks are not upbeat, but he told me that he would be willing to make me one for the video if I would give him credit on my site and on the movie. Which I told him, Sure!  So I guess I better get cracking on more prop, huh/.

Latexing with Deathtouch

Posted on 6/29/2006 at 8:57 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, I decided to take a wack at the kit that I bought from Ironstock.  It comes with slush latex, batting, brush, and hair.  I got out one of my skull I bought from ACC and gave it a try.  Not to bad.  I might have to add more to it, but not bad for my first night.  I might be able to do something with it.  Maybe my witch or an ash tray.  Who knows?

More pics from Ironstock

Since I had so many ask for more pictures, I have uploaded more on photobucket.  I didn't have time to get all 389 of them, but I think this should do.  Check them out here

Update:  I noticed that WormyT is starting to put her pictures on line from Ironstock.  Here are those links.  It looks like she hasn't put my picture up yet.  Good!

Most of the stuff that I bought from Ironstock was T-shirts and such, but I did buy one thing different.  It was a corpsing kit from www.gore-galore.com. It comes with cotton backing, latex, and hair.  I got it for about 30 bucks.  The picture below shows you what it might look like after you are done corpsing.

Back from Ironstock

Posted on 6/26/2006 at 12:14 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Ironstock was awesome!  If you didn’t go and you do a lot of haunting, you should kick yourself.  It was the best time I have had for a while.  We started out having to drive out to Lockport, Illinois so that we could join DragonLady Sue from the Las Ryds Hearse Club  It was suppose to be a convoy of 5 hearses, but we only started with 2.  Later on another hearse would join the group.  I brought my walkie talkies on the trip so we could talk to the hearse drivers.  It was a good idea.  We had so many laughs.  One thing about driving in a hearse caravan is that you will notice all the heads turning.  There were times when I couldn’t help but laugh because of someone turning their head really quick to see the hearses.  And one time, while at a gas station, a bunch of Amish came over to check out the hearses.  Now that was funny.

It took us about 9 ½ hrs from Chicago to Tell City, In.  Now, I waited too long to get a hotel in Tell City, so I was forced to get one in the next city; which just happens to be in the state of Kentucky.(Lewisport)  Nice Hotel, but the wi-fi really sucks.  I couldn’t upload my photos.  My wife was really tired from the drive so we didn’t make the meeting that was planned at the Ramanda Inn with WormyT being the host.  But we were ready the next day for Ironstock.  I met a lot of people from the hauntforum and halloweenforum that I knew.  Of course there was Frightners Entertainment.  He was there selling lots of stuff. Then I saw Strange1.  Jeff introduced me to him, just after I had put my underwear up on his ceiling.  That would be another story.  LOL.  I also got to met Bodybagging, which had his own booth.  Then I met WormyT, that most everyone in the haunt community knows.  Then I got to met Merlin(the quite one)  She was giving away prizes in the Ironstock raffle.  Which I didn’t win.

At one time I thought that I had taken more pictures than wormy, but I found out that she had already taken around 900 pictures; I on the other hand only 389.  I jokily said that I would need 2 cameras to catch up to you wormy, which she said that is how she took the 900 pictures in the first place.  She already had two cameras.  Holly crap.  Now, I need two cameras.  LOL

On Saturday the famous coffin race was held.  This is basically an obstacle course of tombstones.  There are 5 members on your team.  One is the corpse, which you have to pick up and put in a coffin on a gurney.  The coffin is then raced thru the obstacle course with out going over the lines or hitting any tombstones along the way.  You then stop your coffin at the end and take your corpse(team member) out of the coffin and place them on the ground next to the tombstone.  You then have to race back thru and cross the finish line.  Sounds simple, sure it is.  We were suppose to enter but out team chickened out at the last second.  I guess we should practice first.    Of course if I were going to pick teams I would have Zombie-F(Hauntforum.com), Krough(Grimvisons.com), Dr. Morbius(Robbybuilder.com), Myself, and I don’t know who I would pick for the corpse.  I will have to think about that one.  We could get Hella, PeeWee, or maybe Dark Fanged Bat Lady.   John from pumpkinrot.com could be the corpse too.  He needs a good vacation.

On Saturday night there is a costume party at around 9pm.  Everyone was dressed in costume except for a few people.  They also have a few contests.  I know wormy won for the best display.  I have a picture of that too.

I would also like to beg WormyT and Strange1 not to post any pictures of me.  I am wanted in 5 or 6 states and on Americas most wanted.  So don't do it.  LOL.

Va ca Ti on at Ironstock

Posted on 6/22/2006 at 7:23 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Tomorrow is the day.  I am meeting DragaonLady Sue in Lockport, Illinois tomorrow.  7am on the dot.  I have my Walkie Talkies ready so I can talk to each of the drivers all the way to Ironstock.  This is going to be cool.  And I get to met Frightners Entertainment and WormyT too.  I can't wait.  I also have my laptop, camera, and camcord ready for those exciting times.  Just show me where the food is and I should be good to go.  Don't everyone, I should have pictures.  Just send 9.99 plus your first born too.  LOL.  Don't worry I don't charge, much. LOL.  Yea, I should have pictures for the people who can't get down to Ironstock.

To Ironstock I Go!

Posted on 6/19/2006 at 8:51 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I was able to get a lot done this weekend.  The tombstone is getting close at being done and I started working on my witch caldron.  The foam pieces that go on the top rim are not going on as pretty as I expected so I might have to add something to hide the ugly glue.  Maybe a couple pvc pieces or something might work for that.  I will have to think about that one. I have a picture of both the caldron and the tombstone.  For the people that don’t know, www.hauntforum.com is having a tombstone contest.  Again, I don’t think I have a shot at winning, but I thought I would try.  Right now I have glue, paint, and some texture spray I bought adhered to my hands.  And it isn’t coming off too good.  All in the name of the home haunting I would have to say.  One thing I got this weekend was the foam head for my flying marionette.  I am planning on making my own this year, and I got a little lazy with the head.  So I bought one.  The head looks like the picture in a previous blog entry in which I was talking about buy the foam head.  It is the one with the mouth wide open.  I just need to hook some wires up to it for the arms and to the top of the head.  Then apply a little latex and paint.  I think it is going to look cool.

Also, for the people who don’t know, I am taking a trip to Ironstock at the end of the week.  I am taking Thursday and Friday off.  Maybe I can get the tombstone done by Thursday so I can enter it into the contest(deadline is end of this month)  Friday I have to get up early and head up to met DragonLady Sue to join up in her convoy heading to Ironstock.  It should be a blast.  She told me that the convoy of 5 hearses has been reduced to 2 now, but is should be fun.  I am taking my walkie talkies to talk to her on the way down.  It is going to be a blast.  Of course I will take lots of pictures and video and share with everyone on my site.  Oh, and I forgot that DragonLady Sue ask me to be in the Ironstock casket races.  Maybe we might win.  And I can’t forget about getting some underwear for Frightnerns Entertainment.  He wants people to bring in signed underwear to hang in his tent.  I think even DragonLady Sue is going to do the same.  I can’t wait.  Somebody pitch me.

..And I'm off....

Posted on 6/11/2006 at 7:00 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I was able to get a little stuff done this weekend.  Belive it or not.  And I even started on my witch project which Mr. Unplesant has already started.  That would be the scareFx witch incase you didn't know.  Ok, he is in the lead, but I will catch up quick. Maybe not today, but someday.

So my first thing that I had been working on this weekend was my tombstone.  This is for the Hauntforum.com contest that they have.  I don't have a shot but I am goind to try anyway.  I think I am just trying to get this thing done.  I don't have enough time to get this thing pretty.  I have so much overtime and Ironstock is right around the corner.  Which my wife and I are planning on going.  Anyway, I got a big chunk done this weekend.  Not sure if I have enought time to get it done.  We will see.(picture below)

Ok, the next thing I worked on this weekend is my ScareFx witch.  I think everyone has seen the scarefx at one time.  It is an awesome idea.  That is why I am going to use the idea for my haunt.  My first thing that I had to do is get a 55 gal barrel.  My wife got me one a while ago.  I just cut it down today.  I also bought black paint for it.  I should have the painting done by tonight.  Here is the photo of the barrel before hand.

I don't know why I did it, but today I sent the page that rosie is on to haunt projects.com.  I got an email back saying Awesome prop man!  Of course he probably tells everyone that.  If you would like to see Rosie on HauntProjects.com then follow the link below.  I also sent Rosie in to the Monster List as well.  I have not heard back from Mark yet, so I don't know if she made it or not.  Cross your fingers.  She maybe just a bit different that she might get on.

A while ago I was working on my flying skeleton that was going to be in my crypt this year. I started on it, but I am still half way done.  I think I have gone thru about 3 back bones since then trying to get it right.  It finally started coming out right, but I was hoping to fine a head so I wouldn't have to make one.  But today I found a nice full size foam head at Terror Syndicate.  I bought both the full size and open jaw skulls.  I am planning on using one for my flying skeleton.  Maybe it will help me move along a little quicker.

I got a big smile today

Posted on 6/4/2006 at 9:52 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Today I have been really busy with the yard.  The kids aunt came over not to long ago to give me this picture.  My wife just gave it to me.  It kind of made me smile.  I can remember when she came over last year to take the photo.  I had no idea who she was.  She drove by and stopped in front of the house.  She got out of her car and walk up to the crypt.  I was thinking how rude it was just for somone to walk right up to the crypt like that.  But the wife went outside and then told me it was the kids' aunt.  Which makes it better knowing that it was someone that we know.  Or should I say my wife knows. LOL.

Also, today I bought a Dayton 3M096 from http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/.  This is the motor that I am gong to use for the head of my witch.  I just can't wait now.

Same old tombstone

Posted on 5/30/2006 at 7:04 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I have an update.  I was a good boy this weekend and took some time off of doing the yard and did a little tombstoning.  It wasn't much but it was more than I have done in a while.  And I am back to the overtime this weekend.  Again it will be hard to get that tombstone done with all the overtime I have been doing.  Plus I am going to Ironstock at the end of June so I really have to make time to do it.  Sorry, I don't have any pictures but I will soon.  Oh, and I updated my website with a few more pictures and a video.  If you goto my main site, click on photos and on the bottom it will say Extra pics.  That is where all the pictures are plus the video on the bottom.  It is good to have extra hard drive space.

Halloweenforum is back and so is my sites

Posted on 5/27/2006 at 11:07 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well it looks like Halloweenforum is back on the air.  We were talking about it in hauntforum.com. Larry came on and told us what had happend and we all hoped that everything would be ok.  Which it seems like it has.  Good job larry!

Also, all 3 of my sites are on line again.  One of those sites were added.  I call it www.gravemaker.info.  It is just a mapping system for home haunters.  My sites were down because I was changing them to another host.  1 and 1 to be exact.  I now have more space which mean video and more pictures.  This is going to be cool.  The other sites are www.deathtouchhorrors.com and www.thechristmaskennel.com.

Crapy Tombstone

Posted on 5/21/2006 at 10:03 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I was able to get out this weekend, with a little push from the wife, and get going on the tombstone.  Now the picture I have on it really sucks.  It looks like I really didn't want to go out and do it at all.  Well you were right.  Still not in the mood yet.  But I did get out Sunday and fix the damn thing.  It looks a lot better.  Trust me.

Oh, I also have a new website provider.  You should see my website on a larger scale soon.  I have a lot more space and it is a lot faster.  This is going to be cool.  That means video!  Oh, and I started another domain.  www.gravemaker.info.  Check it out.   Also my two other website might be down for a little while to be transfered to another internet provider.  They are going from Yahoo to 1 on 1.

New Controller Laptop

Posted on 5/16/2006 at 9:03 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well all the overtime that I did paid off.   I just bought a laptop.  It should be arriving next week.  I know, all I need is another computer right?  It was calling my name so I bought it.  I couldn't wait any more.  Plus I can use it to controll some Halloween and Christmas stuff.  I am trying to get out of this rut the best way I can.  This is just a start.  I need to get my butt outside and work on the tombstone.  Then I need to get the witch done.  I just need someone to light a fire under my butt.

Mom's passing

Posted on 5/12/2006 at 12:45 PM by Deathtouch - Link

For everyone that was wondering, my mom passed away on May 9th.  I just got back yesterday night from the funeral.  I will miss her greatly.

I found out stuff I never knew.  Mainly a large longing to do Make-up FX for Halloween type films.  And I got to read a few letter from back from when I was born.  She talked about making Halloween costumes and stuff a lot.  You can guess where I got my Halloween interest.  I will always remember the Halloween and Christmas stuff that she made from scratch.  I guess her Halloween interest got mutated and transferred to me in some sick way.  I just wish I had gotten her artistic sense as well.

Big Setback

Posted on 5/5/2006 at 5:55 PM by Deathtouch - Link

My plan this weekend was to get the tombstone worked on.  Well, I found out that my mom had a heart attack.  So now the plan is to take a road trip to see her in Rock Falls, Illinios.  I just hope she is ok.

IronStock

Posted on 5/2/2006 at 11:27 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Since I have been working a lot of overtime lately, I have not had to much time to work on the tombstone.  I did however get a chance to work on some of the foam the other day.  I also built up a few pieces of foam to make a face or skull.  I have not decided yet.

This weekend I was talking to a local haunter who goes down to Ironstock in a convoy of hearses.  Her name is Dragonlady Sue and she lives in Plainfield, Illinois. I was talking to her because I was trying to get a ride to Ironstock.  After talking to her, my wife decided that she wanted to go.  So I told Dragonlady Sue that I would like to join her convoy to Ironstock instead of just riding along.  She told me no problem, they leave at 8am in the morning on Friday June 23rd.  That is going to be cool.  I might have to get some more memory for my camera.  The really cool part is that I will be in a convoy of hearses.

Tombstone Redesign

Posted on 4/25/2006 at 8:19 AM by Deathtouch - Link

So, after some debate I thought about changing the design a little to make it easier on myself.  I am going to make it more like a book than scroll.  I have a picture below.  And I have been adding to my tombstone phrase.

Here is part of it.

Heavily sob the mourners of death.

Trivial rituals for those that are left.

A river of tears yet wasted on me,

it quenches thy thirst from ye own family tree.

So, cast out ye thoughts and I shalt whittle them to stone,

for the folk engulfed by darkness and left here alone.

Read ye not aloud thy last empty page

Darkened words erased by thy rage.

Six strikes thy clock but all ye is not well.

One hand points to heaven,

thy other chooses hell.

More to the tombstone

Posted on 4/21/2006 at 5:04 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, I just started getting over my flu today.  Thank God, it was a bad one.  All I did was sleep all day.  So, I decided to get out in the yard today and work on the tombstone.  I was able to get the main structure done and some of the foam placed on its base.  I had to stop early due to the flue, but will start again tomorow.

Also, I sent in my check to Fright. Enter. for the Beef Netting.  I bought about 2 pounds from Jeff.  My wife is really excited about the beef netting.  Maybe it will give her something to do.

Only 194 days left

If this isn't a wake up call for some.  Only 194 days left.  Most people take 184 days just to get out of bed in the morning.  So what are you waiting for.  Getting going on the props.  You are going to wish you had.

Motors are here

Posted on 4/18/2006 at 12:32 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Just a quick note.  Last night the UPS guy came and dropped off my two motors that I ordered.  Mainly for my witch, but now it looks like I need more.  So, I might be calling back for the same motors.

Tombstone

Posted on 4/15/2006 at 7:22 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, I got a lot done today.  And the tip top is 42 inches. Lucky day.  But knowing me I would still go over.  Here is a picture as of today.  It is only the base.  Got a lot of things to do.  My wife was suggesting that I change materials.  Meaning not use foam but chicken wire.  I don't know if it would look that good with chicken wire.

Unpleasant Street Tombstone

Posted on 4/15/2006 at 1:12 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Today I started construction on my Unplesant Street Tombstone.  The base is being glued in with wood glue as I type.  I think the base might be a little bigger than I wanted.  But I might get it to work ok.

I also want to thank ScareFX for sending me his MP3 that he uses for his witch.  That is going to work great.  Thank you ScareFX!

Pumpkin in the sky

Posted on 4/14/2006 at 8:07 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, first off I was able to pick up some wood for the tombstone, and my wife brought me home the barrel for my ScareFX witch.  I had already bought the motor for it, I just have not gotten it yet.  I still have not figure out how I am going to do the face. I might have to buy another mask.  Ok, now for the picture that you see. My wife drew up a quick design of a tombstone.  I think I can duplicate.  During the week I have been making a Epitaph for the tombstone.  If you can't see it, it goes something like this.

Heavily sob the mourners of death.

Trivial rituals for those that are left.

River of tears yet wasted on me,

it quenches thy thirst from ye own family tree.

Cast out ye thoughts and I shalt whittle them to stone,

for the people drenched in darkness and left all alone.

Ok, now I found this cool video of this pumkin rocket I though you might like to see.  I was made by Halloweener, which sound familiar to me. Here is the link to the page and to the video.

ScareFX Witch and motors

Posted on 4/13/2006 at 10:35 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Good news today!  My wife called me up and told me she got me a blue 55 gallon drum for the witch I am making.  That is that scareFX witch that most have seen.  I have been trying to get a hold of one for a while with no luck.  Now I have one.  Thanks honey.

I also bought the motor for my witch for All electronics.  I had bought it on April 10th, so it should be here soon.  I also bought a 12vdc gear motor as well.  I will have to see how it goes.

Someone used my yahoo email for myspace

Posted on 4/11/2006 at 11:47 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I was checking out my yahoo email yesterday when I noticed an email stating that I had started a myspace account.  Which I though, “no I didn’t!’  It was followed by a lot of messages from the same place telling me that someone sent me a message or whatever.  So, I checked it out and I find out that some girl from Ohio had used my yahoo email to start her myspace.  Maybe a big funny thing to her, but not to me.  I immediately changed her password on her myspace.  She can’t get back in now.  I also changed my yahoo account password too.  The nerve of some people.  Of course if you know me then you know that I was going to go thru her PMs too.  I found a naked picture from some myspace user who was from Austria.  Yuk.  I was going to mess with her a little, but I decided I was going to be mature about the whole thing.  I can’t believe that some people think they can get away with something like that.  Well, my plan when I get home is to delete the account.  I can’t do it from work because their web server won’t let me.  So I will do it when I get home.

If you were like to take a peak at this person’s myspace you can see it with the link below.

Haunted house on the hill and Birthday

Posted on 4/7/2006 at 9:06 AM by Deathtouch - Link

While driving to work, I always pass this old brick house that is boarded up.  I have always wanted to take pictures of it and use it on my website.  Today I dropped by and took a few photos.  I will have to post them later when I get home.  It is really foggy outside today, so they should look pretty cool.  I am planning on staying late at work again for the overtime tonight so I should be able to get some night shots too.  The old house has a flood light on it at night, so I should be able to get some nice shots.  It is awesome.  My plan is to incorporate the photos of the old boarded op brick house on my website.  Check back during the weekend for some shots of the old house.

Oh, my birthday is Sunday so you know I will be buying some motors for my haunt.  I think my wife already bought them for me.  She had asked me yesterday for a list.  Right now I am celebrating my birthday a little early for the people at work.  So is so much junk food here today, it is unbelievable.

Update:  Here is the picture of the boarded up house that I see on my way to work.  I edit a photo and added to my website.  You will have to check it out.  After the intro is finished and it goes to the 2nd page, you can see it up topwww.deathtouchhorrors.com

Tombstone Contest

Posted on 4/5/2006 at 10:08 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Unpleasant Street is planning on hosting a Tombstone contest after the prop contest is done.  I thought I better get ready.  I already have two tombstone designs in mind.  My wife and I have been coming up with different designs for the contest.  I can't wait  I am also going to put the new lighting system I though up.  That would be the spinning light system I had in  a few posts ago. Here are a few designs.

Beef netting anyone?

Posted on 4/3/2006 at 6:07 PM by Deathtouch - Link

First news is I moved up a little in the standings on the contest.  My goal right now is to pass the guy in front, who has a score of 7.  I have 5, so 2 more and I tie.  Come on Rosie.

Ok now on with beef netting..  If you are intersted in buying beef netting, now is your chance.  Frighteners Entertainment is planning on selling it how you want it.  Meaning you don't have to buy a whole roll just to get beef netting.  You can just buy a pound if you want.  I think it goes for around 3 bucks or so per pound.  I was planning on buying 2 pounds.  I have no clue where I am going to put it, but I will find a place.  I think you have to go thru the Unplesant Street thread to get it instead of thru him directly, but you coul alway ask.

Long live Krough

Posted on 4/2/2006 at 1:40 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well it is only day 2 of the contest and I have already lost.  I don't even have a shot at 3rd place.  But I just happen to get three votes.  Which it could be worse.I know it sounds like I am working the pitty pot thing, but maybe I am.  Krough's stump is at this point, leading everyone.  Followed by Dr. Morbious and Blackwidow. All three of them I voted for.  So it does suggests that I have taste.  Well suggests..  They have a tombstone contest coming up but I don't know if I have it in me to try.  I think this contest knocked a little of the Halloween out of me. I am going to have to push myself to put things together for Halloween.  I guess this was a reality check for me.  I know I shouldn't think about this so heavy, but I also didn't think the contest would go this bad for me.  I guess initially I thought I had a shot at 3rd or 4th.  But at this point in the contest I am further back than I had planned.  Maybe I put too much thought and energy in my props, website, and Halloween in general.  It doesn’t leave too much for falling if things go bad.  Which I did during this contest. I guess there isn’t a big love for killer plants.  What was I thinking?  I know even John from Pumpkinrot lost to a Big Egg which he really hates.  I guess even the great prop builders have their problems.

Scare the Vote!

Posted on 4/1/2006 at 9:24 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Today was the start of the Unpleasant Street voting for best prop contest.  There were a total of 13 contestants for this year and voting is done by a picking three of the best props.  Which was a really good idea, because personally I liked three.  So it helps me out a lot.  I got up a little later than normal today, to see what the totals were.  Sadly, I had not even got a vote yet.  LOL.  Which doesn’t look good for me.  Oh, well, I tried.  The good thing is it looks like the people in my office picked good.  I had a little voting session at work, and most liked Dr. Morbius’ entry, followed by krough. So far that is following suite.  In the picture below is the stats as of 9am central time.  We still have 7 days to go, but you can see how things are going.

Nervous about contest

Posted on 3/30/2006 at 12:37 PM by Deathtouch - Link

It is getting closer to the Unpleasant Street Contest that I entered Ole Rosie.  I think the paranoia and nervous spells are starting.  That is when I start over analyzing everything about why I am not going to get a vote.  And I can’t vote for myself, so there goes my one vote. LOL.  I guess what my wife says is true. “All I can do, is all I can do.”  Which is totally true.  I can sit and worry about it all day, or just come to the conclusion that worrying about it won’t do me any good.  I guess I am starting to feel better about it already.  This is good.  Of course I can’t help to wonder if I should have added something else.  Like a clock radio or something.  I could have used the digital read out of the radio for the eyes.  LOL.  And they would be different every time.  Now, isn’t that scary.  More scarier than I thought about using it in the first place.  LOL.  I don’t know.  Maybe Rosie is just good the way she is.  If I don’t win this year, there is always next year.  Yea, that is the way to think.  I surely think that the contest will be really close.  I don’t think there will be one person who will run away with it.  Certainly Dr. Morbius and Krough will be in there and the ones to beat.  After reading all the comments left by everyone, I can’t image them not being in the running.  I had a few people comment about my entry, but I am low man on the pole as compared to Dr. Morbius and Krough.  Well, I wish everyone good luck.  I guess I will get a clue to who might win on April 1st.  Which is April fool's Day.  Ok, I better just stop thinking about it.

Here is the place to see the enties.

The Cross Gravestone

Posted on 3/26/2006 at 12:54 PM by Deathtouch - Link

This year I also wanted to make some really good tombstones.  Last year my wife made a few but I wanted them to be more real.  So, for the first one I would like to make something like this.(In the picture below)  It is a cross with light beaming from the sides.  I saw this on www.hauntedmedia.com.  And I thought it was really cool.  So, I think this is going to be a small project on the side.

My Unpleasant Street Contest Entry

Posted on 3/25/2006 at 7:26 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, as of 7pm Sat the 25th I entered by prop into the contest.  I sure hope Rosie get a few votes anyway.  That would really suck if I didn't get a vote.  LOL. But I feel I tried my best.  If I don't win then maybe next year.  I know you can't win them all.  But it is always a good feeling when you do. So here is a few photos of my entry.  You can see the How-to and everything I needed to enter the contest at this address.  http://home.comcast.net/~deathtouchhorrors/rosie.html

Update photo of Rosie

Posted on 3/24/2006 at 5:23 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I have few updated pictures of Rosie.  I had already posted some picture on Unpleasant Street forum but didn't get a lot of feed back.  So, I guess I need to just hold my head up high and get this thing done.  Then post my finish prop on Unpleasant Street so I can live in peace.  LOL.  Of course, I am not done with Rosie's painting yet, and I was planning on adding something to the pod.  Plus the 2nd face isn't finish yet.  But I have a picture of it below.  I don't know, maybe rosie is just a little too green.  As Kermit the frog says, "It isn't easy being green."  Maybe it needs to be a little darker, but I don't have a lot of time to do that.  So, I am just going with the flow.

Oh, I forgot that I got my shipment from ACC.  I got 6 skulls which I might do what krough did and make those skull tree stumpy things.  I don't know what he calls them.

Rosie's almost together

Posted on 3/23/2006 at 11:35 AM by Deathtouch - Link

The picture isn't much, but it gives you a little image of ole Rosie last week.  She was painted all black at this point and not much to look at.  You can't even see the 2nd face unless you blow the pic up.  It is the only one I had at this stage. Sorry..  As of today, if you can image, rosie is painted a dark green color and highlighted.  I have been painting this thing green so long that my hands are green, and it is tuff to get it off.  One night we dropped off my step daughter at the mall and my wife suggested we goto a resturant to eat.  I stil had green all over my hands.  I thought it would be a bad idea but the wife told me she wanted to go.  By the end of the night my face was now green.  Now everyone was starting to look at me and giggle.  You can guess that I really wanted to leave.  Oh well.  The vines that I got from Grapegrl are not shown here but today ole rose has vines from the pod which rap around rosie untill it reachers her head.  It also goes around the arms and the bottom tenicals.  I don't think you can see the 2nd face but it is between the bottom tenticals.  I made the mouth the same as the top except it is open.  I have not painted that part yet, but I am getting closer.  The pod turned out better than I thought.  It kind of reminds me of an aliens' pod, which where the vines look like they come from.  I am still adding effects to the pod and the face, but it gives you a basic shape of what it is going to look like.  I kinda like the all black look at first, but now green is growing on me.  All I can say is I hope I don't get dead last on this contest.  That would suck.  But if I do, it just means I have to work twice as hard next year.

Big thank you to Frightners Ent.

Posted on 3/22/2006 at 9:50 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Last week some time I ordered a few scary cds for my haunt this year.  I ordered from Frighteners Entertainment.  The order was for a two Midnight Syndicate audio cds.  Vampyre and Born of the Night.  Surprisingly the order came with their haunt DVD and some spooky spiders.  I watched the DVD the first night and it is a scream.  Meaning it was really funny.  I have a picture from the DVD.  Jeff from Frighteners is the guy in the middle.  Funny thing is I have never seen him in plain cloths.  I wonder if he has any?  LOL.

Anyway, I was back to painting Ole Rosie.  It isn't what you may be thinking.  The Devil's Rose that I have working on for a while is nick named Ole Rosie from my good friend PeeWeePinson.  I think I am going to use it if you don't mind.  I will have to credit her for this. LOL.  But anyway the painting is starting to come into view.  Before today I didn't know what was going on.  The face is starting to look like a face.  The problem is there are two faces.  Yep, back to work for me.

Cold isn't good for paint

Posted on 3/21/2006 at 7:50 AM by Deathtouch - Link

As I have found out many times.  When it is cold paint doesn't bond right.  Having problems painting my 20 dollar project.  The teeth have been a real pain.  It just doens't look right.  I was able to use the vines I bought from Grapegrl.  It looks really cool.  Better than I thought. I am even going to use the moss that she sent.  Thanks Grapegrl!   Well, I guess my plan for tonight is to run out to the garage with rosie and spray paint her really quick and then run back to the house.  LOL.  Sometimes it is nice outside other times the wind really whips through you.  Chicago really sucks this part of year.  It could be 40 degs out one day, -20 the next.  Which that is what it feels like today.

Update: On Slaughter House.

I just wanted to show you where I got the idea for the spikes for the Slaughter house.  We have an RF chamber which uses these foam shaped spikes.  I thought it would be a great spike for my slaughterhouse.  Of course they don't have none to give me.  So, I have to make this from scratch.

Got alot done

Posted on 3/19/2006 at 6:48 PM by Deathtouch - Link

So, I got a lot done today.  I even did a little painting.  I just need to get the pod done a little more.  Here is a picture.

Times a ticking

Posted on 3/18/2006 at 2:47 PM by Deathtouch - Link

The Unpleasant Street contest is only a few weeks away, and I am not close at being done.  Everything takes so long to get done  I just got done with making the 2nd mouth, and I have been painting a little.  It took me all this morning to get the body in the position that I wanted. All I can do is cross my fingures and hope things go well.

The Demise of Pumpkinrot?

Posted on 3/16/2006 at 11:06 AM by Deathtouch - Link

It has been some time ago that I have talked to John of Pumpkinrot.  He wished me Merry Christmas in December and even responded to an email I sent a while ago showing him the progress of my new Pumpkinrot scarecrow.  But even then his response sounded automated.  John has always been the one to take the time to answer an email or two.   So you may wonder where I am going with this.  Well, a few weeks ago I started getting emails and pms from people asking “what’s up with Pumpkinrot?”  John apparently wasn’t answering any of emails.  I didn’t really know what to say to everyone.  I had not talked to John in a while, so all I could say is email him again.  I can’t image John with a chip on his shoulder.  Curiosity finally got the better of me, and I had to find out for myself.  I sent John an email showing him my prop that I had been making for Unpleasant Street $20 prop challenge and asked him a few question about his new scarecrow that he was making.  Well, I never got a response back from John.  Not through my email anyway.  I checked his website the next day, in the brewing section.  My mouth about dropped when I saw a banner showing, “And the new scarecrow’s name is Blight.”  It seemed like a slap to the face, like I was not good enough to receive an email.  Like he had gotten so many emails that instead of answering directly, he did it by way of his website.  At the time, I didn’t take it this personally, but your know me.  I had to find out if this was just paranoia.  So, after I went to Transworld and took some nice picture I might add, I sent John another email showing him the location of where the pictures were.  I thought, “There is just no way he can’t respond to this.  No way!”  He had told me before that he would have like to have gone to Transworld but that he was just to anti-sociable.  Well, now I brought Transworld to him, he couldn’t just ignore me again.  To which he did.  I didn’t hear a peep from John.  Nothing.  So, my questions is, “what has happened to John from Pumpkinrot.”  Has the pressures of producing so many awesome props year after year finally done him in?  Will there be a year without a Pumpkinrot?  Or will he just drift away like the Montreal Expose?  It would be hard to image life without a Pumpkinrot.  But I don’t think he is gone totally.  I was buying the Halloween-L DVDs and I noticed Pumpkinrot was on the list for receiving them and also listed as one of the videos on the DVD.  But what ever happens, I will always be a fan of Pumpkinrot.

I did a couple of things to the Devil's Rose last night.  I added LEDs to the eys and I paper mache the body.  I am not really liking the body too much.  It needs something, like a kick to the butt or something.  Time to get back to work.  Oh, and I added the Devil's Rose to my upcoming on my site.  Man, I hope this turns out ok.  To get myself in the mood, I made a banner for The Devil's Rose.  I only have till the 31st of March to submit my prop to Unpleasant Street forum.  I am starting to feel the presure.

I almost forgot.  I have been working more on the slaughterhouse design at work.  It is starting to look nice.  I will have to show you a pic of it later.

Update:  Slaughter house Picture - just first design

Body picked out

Posted on 3/12/2006 at 8:24 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Today I found a good price on a sump pump plastic pipe.  It cost 2.49 for 10 feet.  All I needed was 3 feet.  Go figure.  But it works really good for what I needed it to do.  Here is a pic of The Devil's Rose as of today.  Not as exciting news as I had yesterday, but it will do.

Transworld Pictures!

Posted on 3/12/2006 at 5:43 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Transworld was a blast.  Awesome.  I can’t say enough about it.  I went on Sat March 11, 2006 and the place was rocking.  When my wife and I got there it was kind of convoluted since we didn’t know where to begin.  So we just went into the room with the biggest sign.  The thing that scared me was that they had a sign that said no cameras or videos allowed, so I wasn’t going to take pictures.  And when I did it was really quick.  But then I saw all theses other guys taking pictures, so I though, what the hell me too.  One of the first things we checked out were the playmates.  Oh, my God.  I didn’t get any pictures because of the sign and all, but one gave me a deck of dirty playing cards.  Awesome.  We next check the main floor for the costumes.  If you ever needed a costume, this is the place.  They even had an adult costume show, which was around 2pm.  We watched that for only a few mins.  I also got to meet Midnight Syndicate and bought a T-shirt and coffee mug.  We next went to the 2nd floor where all the animated props were.  Some really nice stuff.  I also got to meet Marylyn from ACC.  That is the place where I buy all my skulls. I bought about 6 skulls from ACC.   Then I went to Creative Visions and bought one of their DVDs called Lifecasting. I will have to watch that and tell you how it goes.  Then we went into what I call the dark room.  This room was hosted by ScareFactory.  It was the most eye-popping room there.  One of the first things you will see is the headless horseman.  Someone told me that sells for around 15k.  That is ½ as much as my truck.  Then they have the horse pull hearse and then they have a huge haunted house.  You really have to see this in person to appreciate it.  My favorite is the corner of the house where they have these spinning souls.  Man I wanted that so bad.   To the left of that is a big huge 6-armed creature that you got to see.  I have pictures.  The link is below if you would like to see.

Boot to the head

Posted on 3/6/2006 at 8:07 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, I was able to get a shot of the head tonight.  It still needs a little drying, but here is the Devil's Rose that I have been working on.  This again is for my 20 dollar challenge.  I just need to clean it up a bit and add the body and paint and I should be done.  I hope.  LOL

Getting closer

Posted on 3/5/2006 at 2:01 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I did a little more work on the face of my 20 dollar challege.  I still have the head to get done and the body.  I was looking at Home Depot for a body today, but the price was a little more than I wanted to pay.  It was more of those drier pipes.  I am going to have to check out other options.

Update after the update:  I was able to get the back of the head on.  It now looks some what like an alien.  I think I kinda like it.

Da Bulls

Posted on 3/3/2006 at 8:31 AM by Deathtouch - Link

Last night I had a night off from doing prop work.  My boss took us all out to the Chicago Bull’s game.  The Bulls were playing Cleveland, and we had our own sky box.   I have a crappy picture from my phone that you can see.  It was a really good game, but we lost 92 to 91 at the finial seconds of the game.  Maybe now it will start getting warmer, so I can do some stuff outside.

Devil’s Rose eyes

Posted on 2/28/2006 at 7:46 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I worked more on the Devil’s Rose last night.  I paper mache the front part of the face and I painted the eyes a little.  To give it that evil look.  It is starting to look like it has character. Of course the puppy didn't like me painting and when I went to get a soda, she took my paint brush.  The paint brush is now in a million pieces.  Oh, well, I have more..     I also made the back part of the head with a balloon.  Not really sure how the back of the head will look like, but I hoping to fine out in a few days once it is dry.  Just to show you the difference of when I started, here is that pic again.

I got to work a little more on my new project called the Devil’s Rose.  I am hoping to that I can use this for my $20 dollar challenge but I might use the pumpkinrot instead.  But, this is the head as of today.

Start of the Slaughterhouse

Posted on 2/25/2006 at 5:21 PM by Deathtouch - Link

You can remember the mask that I bought from Death Studios a while back.  I have been working on my $20 dollar challege prop when I thought about the slaughterhouse a bit.  I found a good stand for the head.  I just need to alter the stand just a little bit and the guy is ready.

My Halloween Flash

Posted on 2/22/2006 at 9:58 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Last weekend, I bought a new flash website software.  I got it from Koolmoves. Which is nice if you really don’t know about flash.  It gives you a little feel for it and helps produce some nice flash sites.  I certainly think that flash is the way to go.  Soon Internet websites will be 3d interactive sites.  It could happen.   LOL.  I have been building up both my Christmas and Halloween sites with this flash program.  But I had some help on my Halloween site from Dr. Morbius and his son.  I would like to send out a big thank you to both of them.(Dr. Morbius' website)  The good Dr. recorded his son’s voice and digitalizes it to sound like a small ghostly child’s voice saying “DeathTouch Horrors.”  I then animated a child’s statue picture that I found on the Internet.  The statue will open its eyes and look side to side and say “DeathTouch Horrors” in that awesome ghostly child voice.  You have to hear it.  Goto www.deathtouchhorrors.com after the initial screen you will be treated to this animated statue.  IF you run you mouse over it, the animation will repeat.  If you get a chance, send Dr. Morbius an email and tell him you liked the audio track from his son.  Oh, and if you have time check out the flash I did to my Christmas site.  www.thechristmaskennel.com

My wife has been getting into the Halloween spirit.  She has started on a babyrot.  It is a smaller version of the famous pumpkinrot you have seen at www.pumpkinrot.com.  Of course, it won’t be cute.  LOL.  I also got my wife and a relative of hers to come with me to the Halloween Transworld.  That happens in the beginning of March.  Which I can’t wait.  My wife is planning on stealing my Unpleasant Street T-shirt, I guess I will wear my Halloweenforum to Transworld.  I did get to wear it once.  Picture below.

Oh, on March 2nd my boss is taking everyone out to a Bulls game.  We get our own party room.  Whooaoa.  Party on Bill and Ted.

Flexible Foam Test

Posted on 2/20/2006 at 9:07 AM by Deathtouch - Link

This weekend was really laid back.  I did a few things but not really.  You know what I mean.  I worked on the backbone again.  You are probably thinking that I should have the backbone ready, but problems have caused me to redo the backbone 3 times.  I am hoping that 3rd time is a charm.

I have also been testing the flexible foam that my friend gave me.  This is the foam that I plan to use on the slaughterhouse.  I wondered how it takes paint and what it does when you melt it.  It takes paint really well and when you melt it, the texture looks like a crumbling wall.  Which really might look nice.  I will have more time to mess with it during the warm months.

Super Secret Prop is Out!

Posted on 2/10/2006 at 11:23 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I think it is time to unreveal my super secret prop.  Picture below.  It will be called the slaughterhouse.  The top part will spin around with chains and all.  You may have seen the picture from the video game Warcraft III.  Construction of the slaughterhouse won’t be until it gets warmer, but to give you a heads up I have picture of what it might look like.  But, you know me.  I will add something to it.  Which I did.  If you remember the Death Studio’s mask I bought, he will reside inside the slaughterhouse; moving his head from side to side.  I might change this but as of right now this will do.  Now I really can’t wait for Halloween now.

Good Morning America Cruise

Posted on 2/6/2006 at 9:58 AM by Deathtouch - Link

This may be non-Halloween related but I just found out that our secretary form work won a contest from “Good Morning America.”  There are 300 women that won the cruise from GMA by writing an Essay on what their friends do for fun, I guess.   Our secretary, Sharon Haynes and friends, sent in an Essay on their metal pan band from Aurora, Illinois.  All four women are going on the cruise during this week.  You can check on the status of their trip from the GMA website.

Congratulations Sharon.  Bring me back a shirt or a shark tooth.  LOL.  Goto Girls Week out..  http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/

I just got my Transworld Passes today.  Now I am ready for the big props now.  I need to save some money before I go.

Backbone

Posted on 1/29/2006 at 8:39 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I got the backbone a little closer at being done today.  This is more like the ruff draft than being done.  Still has to be sanded and cleaned up a bit, not to metion the latex.  But this is what it looks like today.  Also, I started on the head this afternoon.  It was glued together and is in my garage.

Skeleton face

Posted on 1/28/2006 at 12:17 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Over the course of the week, I have been widowing down the foam backbone to make my marionette skeleton for my crypt.  I have been thinking about this for some time that I wanted to add a few things to the skeleton to make it more mine.  So, I found this picture in one of my magazines from PC gamer.  The image gives some ideas of how I am going to make the face.  So, I have a picture of the magazine to show you what my plans are for the face.  Already the backbone is starting to look like something.  I might have to fix a few things, but it is coming out pretty good.  I will have to show you a picture soon.

Death Studio's Mask is here

Posted on 1/27/2006 at 5:59 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I went to my door today and found my new Death Studio's Mask.  It is awesome.  I can't wait to get that thing out on Halloween.  My wife told me that she might be able to get me a 55 gal drum for my Scare FX project.  So, I might have to buy me another mask.  We will  see.

For my Fly skeleton, I have some parts done.  It is coming along better than I thought. I have the bottom of the backbone done.  Once I get backbone done I will post pictures.

Vine Creature

Posted on 1/24/2006 at 9:12 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Since I bought some grape vines for Grapegrl I had to start on another project tonight.   I guess this is my cheap project.  I bought a mask from Wal-mart last year and I paper mashe' it.  Then I will paint it and put a little latex on it.  I hoping it will go good with the vines.  We can hope.  I think it needs a little more work to the chin and a few other places.

Updated 1/25/2006

Transworld Passes

Posted on 1/24/2006 at 8:06 AM by Deathtouch - Link

So the latest news is that I bought grape vines from Grapegrl yesterday.  I bought about 10 pounds of it.  I certainly have a plan.  I will show you once I get things rolling.  As soon as I got home yesterday, I went into the garage to take out some Halloween stuff I bought from Wal-mart of last year.  I am hoping to use this stuff with my vines.

My wife called me up yesterday to tell me that someone was going to give me a 55 gallon drum.  That means that my ScareFX project might be in the mix this year.  I didn’t think I would find a drum this quickly.  But, I also have to remember that I wouldn’t build as much Halloween stuff this year to make up for Christmas.  I plan to build something big this Christmas.  Plus all the programming for the lights and the large tree that I bought.  I have to remember this or I will run myself ragged.

Yesterday I also faxed in my Transworld Haunt information.  They had reminded me in an email, so I thought I better get cracking.  All I had for proof was the flyer that FontGeek gave me, which was at a low resolution.  But, for faxing, I think it is good enough.  We also had another person ask to go with us to Transworld.  A relative of my wife’s, Connie, who is a big time Halloween fanatic has boxes and boxes of Halloween goodies that she use to display in her yard.  I guess we will find out how big into Halloween she is when we goto Transworld.

Busy Weekend

Posted on 1/22/2006 at 11:36 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I had a busy Halloween filled weekend.  The first thing I have been working on this weekend is my pumkinrot.  I got him halfway painted.  You can see I don’t have the stem on his head yet.  I am still working on an alternative to the pumpkin’s stem.  If it doesn’t work, I will just use what John used, which is just a rolled up newspaper.

The 2nd thing I got done was the start of the backbone to my flying skeleton.  Depicted in the picture below.  I have not started carving  yet, but I just wanted to show you what I got done.  Especially when this is my 2nd attempt.  The first one didn’t make it because I damaged the foam due to the excusive glue I put on.   Plus I learned a little about gluing these foam pieces together.  It was a little tricker than I thought.

The 3rd thing ,I must say, someone else did for me.  I had some Big Help from Fontgeek.  I had previously asked him if he could help me make a flier for my haunt.  The reason wasn’t so much to promote my haunt but more or less trying to get into the door of Transworld.  I found out from Haunted Illinois, who is helping promote the event, which they are allowing home haunters in but they must show an association to the haunt community.  Which Transworld is looking for a few documentations before you get your pass.  Like fliers, website, receipts that someone bought from you, your first born.  You know, that sort of thing.  I got the 1st draft from Fontgeek the other day.  I really didn’t expect the quality of this flier to be of that high of caliber.  I think that I was expecting something just to get me in the door of Transworld. He could have just scribbled on a piece of paper and I would have been happy. LOL.   But instead it looks like he went with a totally professional quality flier.  It is unbelievable.  You have to take a look at it. (picture enclosed)(Got permission to show on blog)  Thank you FontGeek!  I owe you big time.  I think the picture would really look cool on Halloweenforum’s next T-shirt.

Lastly, on my super secret project.  The mask that I ordered won’t be done until next Thursday.  That means it might not be here for about two weeks.  I won’t be ready for construction until the summer anyway.  I need a little more room to work with on this project.   So, I need to use the patio like I did with the crypt.  The scope of this project has changed many times over the winter.  But, when I get done, there should be a total of 3 motors controlling this thing.  I can’t wait.

New Flier from FontGeek

Skeleton Backbone bought the farm

Posted on 1/18/2006 at 7:50 PM by Deathtouch - Link

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.  Good news tomorrow is my wedding anniversary.  Five years believe it or not.  And I got the Pumpkinrot face a little better than I was expecting.  The mouth looks a lot better.  And I have a picture of it to boot.  Now the bad news.  You know that flying skeleton backbone I was working on?  Well, I didn’t mention that when I was gluing it together, I glued one of the foam pieces on the wrong side.  Well, I put bricks on top to weight it down.  Those brick pieces were sitting on the glue.  Do you get me so far?  Well, I was able to take most of the bricks off without damaging the foam.  Except for the last piece which rip off most of the foam in the middle.  That sucks.  That means I have to start over with the backbone.  Oh, well I have 285 days yet to go for Halloween.  I am good.

I still have not heard anything about my mask from Death Studios.  I don't know what is taking them so long.  I know they said last week that it would be shipped.  Well, I don't think it got shipped.  Not that I need it yet, but it would be nice to have so I can start designing around him.

Update on Mask:  I was told today 1/19/2006 that there was a problem with the mask so they couldn't ship it out.  They had to make another mask.  Suppose to ship out next Thurday.  You would think they would call their customers if there was a problem.

Fun with Paper Mache'

Posted on 1/15/2006 at 6:14 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I didn't get Pumpkinrot's paper mache' done today.  I still have a little work on it to do.  The stem didn't come out right and the mouth may need a few more holes.  But my plan was not to cut that many holes in the mouth because I going to have a light put in and I only wanted a few showing up..  I have some pictures, but this is just the start

I also started the backbone today.  Right now it is drying with the glue that I just put on.  Afterwards I will trim it done to look like a backbone.  Cool.

Pumpkinrot face done

Posted on 1/11/2006 at 8:37 AM by Deathtouch - Link

I finished the face of Pumkinrot last night.  The mouth didn’t look as good as I thought it would.  I am hoping the paper mache’ makes it look better.  But, before I start to paper mache’ I am planning on building up the face a little for cotton and a little latex.  I am trying to get that bumpy face look.  I am not trying to revamp Pumkinrot, I am just trying to give it my unique touch.

I found out that my mask from Death Studios should ship by this Thursdays at the latest.  This is the mask that I am going to use with my super secret prop.  You know, the one I have no clue what I am doing... LOL.

Start of my Flying Skeleton

Posted on 1/8/2006 at 6:54 PM by Deathtouch - Link

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was going to start construction on my flying skeleton ghost.  I went to Menards today and bought a ¾ inch foam piece, nylon string, and Polyurethane glue.  This will be used for the construction of the backbone of the skeleton.  I didn’t get a chance to work on it at all or on my pumkinrot today because I was setting up a wireless network in my stepdaughter’s room.  I should get something done tomorrow.

Start of Pumpkinrot

Posted on 1/7/2006 at 9:11 PM by Deathtouch - Link

The beginning of my 2nd project, Pumpkinrot, started tonight.  Taking out my router, I trimmed off the bottom of the plastic caldron and cut out the eyes.  I should start cutting out the mouth tomorrow.  Then the plan is to beef up the head with cotton and latex followed by paper mache’.  My goal is to make Pumpinrot more like a pumpkin.

I also bought a micrometer about 3 days ago from ebay.  It should be here soon.  I am planning on using that to make a foam skeleton for my crypt.  I got the idea from www.vilethings.com.   I have been talking to the creator of that site, Eric to get some pointers on making this floating ghost.  It should be cool, if I can get it half way decent.

I have a website

I now have two websites under my belt.  One is my Halloween website.  It is called www.deathtouchhorrors.com  It isn't setup yet, but I get it going soon.  The other website is my Christmas site.  www.thechristmaskennel.com  It isn't setup yet either, but I will get that done too.  Wow, I two sites.  COOL!

The Best Christmas Present

Posted on 12/28/2005 at 3:02 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I guess you could say the best Christmas present is one that you buy yourself.  Today even though it isn't 2006, I started to buy stuff for next years haunt.  What did I buy and what is it for you may ask?  Well the picture below shows you that I bought a mask from Death Studios called Hemlock. Since ScareFX had some good luck with Death Studios, I thought I give them a try. I am not ready to reveal what it is, maybe because I not sure myself. I will just say that it is another structure like the crypt but totally different. I am only hoping that it is scary.  All I can say is that this project has changed its shape over the period to which I first thought it up. It started out being larger than the crypt, but now I think it will be a little smaller.  I just hope I picked the right mask for the job.  My wife told me that since I have so many ideas that I should start writing all those on paper.  Which I have been doing.  I think I have about 15 ideas this year.  Only 3 will be used. The rest of the time will be devoted to my Christmas display.  Which reminds me that I bought another Christmas present for myself.  Another light controller from Animated Lighting.  I got it for about 200 bucks.  I guess you will have to wait till next Christmas to see what I do with it.

Getting ready for new year

Posted on 11/22/2005 at 2:58 PM by Deathtouch - Link

I decided to clean up a little on the blog.  Time for 2006.
