Devilicious

I have finally chosen my Halloween costume!  Back in late August I finally decided on one and ordered it.  Buycomstumes is pretty good about delivery I have already gotten it in the mail.  Ya Ready??.........

Here was my choice!

BETTIE PAGE - DON'T TREAD ON ME

I love it and it looks hot on me!  The only thing though the horns that came with it did not look like the ones in the pic they are kind of cheap-looking.  So I am just gonna pick me up some awesome ones at the Spirit store when I take my anual visit there soon.  Also need some red gloves and thigh high red fishnets.  Its gonna look awesome!.

I had to get the wig that went with it too because my hair is kind of short and looks nowhere near Bettie Page's hair.

Welp got my costume.  I am looking very very forward to this Halloween its gonna be a blast!

What am I gonna be this Halloween?

Its mid-August!!  That means its time for me to start thinking about what I am going to be for Halloween this year.

I have put together a few choices with a few pics and explanations of what I am going to do to see if it will work or not.  I had originally choose to be some type of fairy, but I am sure each one of these costumes can be modified to be a fairy of some sort.

Tea Party Hostess

Alice in Wonderland is one of my fav things.  I thought this was so awesomely cute as it is hard to actually find a Mad Hatter costume for a girl, let alone a cute one!  But with that insanely short skirt I am gonna have to get some good knickers to wear under it!

FairyLicious Fallen Angel

I loved the Black and White of this costume.  But unfortunely, I do not love the wings that come with this one, I would have to change that out with some goth ones that looked pretty decent.  Those look like they could get torn up in a new york minute!

RIPunzel

I really really liked this one, you can have so many possibilities with it instead of its original purpose, which I do like too, but I could make this an awesome fairy costume with some gothy wings, or even a really cool witch costume!

Bettie Page - Don't Tread On Me

By far this is my fav out of all the ones I picked, just because I LOVE Bettie Page, I would leave this one intact and change the boots to knee-high red boots, try to get as close as I can to the original image of Ms. Page as she looked in that awesome photo!

That about narrows it down to what I had in mind.  Of the best costumes I think I could pick out off the net.  I might go by my local Spirit Halloween store to see if they have any of these in stock that I can actually wear but I highly doubt it.  They didn't last year and I had a HARD time picking out what I wanted to be.  =/  My costume kind of ended up being less than what I expected but I tried to make the most out of it.

Whatever I decide to pick, will be lots and lots of accessories to come with it.  ;)  Those will be posted later!

Just so you all know feedback/Opinions are welcomed!!

Halloween Dreams

I had my first Halloween dream of the season last night.  It was borderlining on a nightmare though because I was at a costume shop with my mom and some other friends (some of those Unknown dream friends that I can't recognize for some reason), and the place was PACKED and I was trying to put together a really cool costume and I couldn't find what I needed (kind of like my RL situation..lol).  But all I really can make out of the dream is that I was trying to find a cute fairy costume and nothing seemed to work out right and my mom kept yelling at me and telling me we had to go.    Hopefully that won't happen to me when I do decide to go Costume shopping this year!!

I finally saw some Halloween stuff out around here!!  It was at The Cracker Barrel and not too far from where I live, they had a Halloween display starting out with all kinds of really awesome stuff!!  Can't wait to see other stores sprining into the spirit around here!  But I will definately keep everyone updated on the stores and also where on Hwy 280 Spirit Halloween will be located this time.  I think last year it was in an old Grocery Store building at the shopping center where Replays was.

Happy Haunting!  Halloween is a coming!

My Blog Just Got A New Costume

Wow, I apologise for the lack of entries from last year.  I think I forgot I had this blog.    But I am back now!  And I just gave my Halloween Blog a new facelift.  Ya Like?  Thought I would make it a bit more stylized for this year's Halloween.  I am gonna work hard to try to make it a blast.

Not sure what all I have planned at the moment. Just been throwing things around in my head on what I want to do.  I am still very uncertain as to what I want to be this year also.  But my two main choices for right now are:

Star Trek Science Officer Sress (from the old series)
Fairy of some sort.

If I can find a new job that pays better, I can probably save up to get both.

But, its just July, I have plenty of time to make my mind up in the coming months.

Here Comes Halloween!

Weeee!!!  Its finally October!!  Smell that autumn in the air!!  I am all excited about Halloween this year!!  Well...  I am every year.  But I actually have time to sit back and enjoy this Halloween.

The other day I decorated the inside of the house (wow I have a lot of decorations!).  And personally I think it looks really good.  But you know with a true Halloween fanatic you can never have enough Halloween decorations to put in or outside of your house.  I am planning on decorating the front yard today.  I am minus my awesome scarecrow this year becuase it was on loan from my mom and she is using it this time.  LOL.  But if I can I am gonna swing by Big Lots later on this week and see if I can't find a really nice bigger Halloween decoration to put out there that matches my decoration theme (pumpkins, black cats, and ghosts.)

Also this year I plan on getting a nice sized pumpkin to actually carve for the big night.  Last year I had a real pumpkin and I just kind of sat it out by the scarecrow and didn't carve it or anything.  I also am having a hard time finding my Pumpkin carving kit, I think we lost it in the move, so they are cheap I will just get another one next time I go to Wal-Mart.

Yay my birthday is coming up soon, I will be 25 and still rockin my Halloween style.  We have been a bit low on money this year so the hubby offered to get me a Halloween costume as a Bday present.  So he told me to go to the Spirit store and look around and see what all I liked.  I haven't really quite decided what I am gonna be this year yet or not.  I will have to see what costume looks best on me.  I was thinking something witchy or something Egyptian.  But it all depends on whether or not my boobs fit into one of those costumes meant for ladies who are not that well endowed.  LOL.

But anyway, I am gonna start decorating the outside of the house and hopefully make it look as awesome as it did last year!  Looks like Halloween this year is gonna be a total blast!

Halloween Magazines!

Oooh I got me a BuyCostumes Magazine today with coupons for the site in it!!!  That makes me very happy.  Not sure if I am gonna use them though I will have to see what I really want to be for Halloween this time.  I am just having the hardest time deciding what I want to be.  I have several ideas but so far can't put my finger one a good one yet.

Man last year I think I got 7 craft magazines before Halloween including the Martha Steward Halloween Edition.  Which had some awesome stuff in it.  I have already gotten my first Halloween Magazine of the year when I was in the checkout line at the grocery store.  Its called Halloween: Food, Fun, And Crafts, and it has got some really good stuff in it that I am planning on using for this Halloween.  I can't wait it should be fun.

First Halloween Shopping Day of the Year!

*inhales* Ahhhh, feels good to finally go in stores and see Halloween stuff out on the shelves!  It is approaching and I can't wait!  My mom and I just had a shopping day and I got me a cute little light up pumpkin stack from the Cracker Barrel of all places.  They have some good stuff!  Went to Michaels and saw lots of stuff I wanted, but I am going to be sparse until a bit later on becuase the stores have yet to put out the REALLY good stuff.

My birthday is coming up soon, and my mom was originally taking me shopping today to look for a new sofa becuase that is what she is getting me.  Don't laugh, I NEED it.  Our poor old Sofa just looks totally tragic. IMO I thought it had about another year left anway.  And it doesn't really match at all its black leather and the living room doesn't have anything black in it at all.  LOL so its time for the Apartment furniture to leave!

Too Hot!

Didn't get to work on anything this weekend it was so hot and humid I just couldn't stand to go out. Tim worked all weekend so I there was no way I was taking Jake out in the heat. I did manage to move props up to shead that I have completed. Don't want everyone seeing my surprizes for this year. Sure hope I can download my pictures later, I do have some of Johnny Appleseed, just no time to go to Mom's and download. We need a new computer at home but keep putting it off until Jacob gets bigger. He trys to reformat mom's all the time, I can just imagine what he would do to one he could sneak and get access to alot.

Planning what to do in the party area and it looks like I am going to have "Madame Crowley's Psychic Readings" for everyone while they wait on the trail to begin. Looks like hot dogs again this year, cheapest way to feed everybody. I got "Madame Crowley" tarot cards off ebay, Ms. Cleo tarot cards at that! for $6.00 total, can't beat that!!

Working, Working, Working...

Did get a couple more props finished up this weekend a spider victim and another paper mache ghoul for the graveyard. I must start up again the costumes as time is drawing closer and closer, but I do not like sewing so the costumes has been the hardest part of this year's event. Damon and I talked this weekend and we are attempting to finalize alot of things for the trail. He said a few more good ideas. I plan on editing the trail ideas on my blog so they will be as we will be using them, to do that later when I have more time (I'm at work and kind of busy right now!) I did find out I may be able to get money this year from the Mentoring Program to help out with food, etc. for the party. I will need to invite the mentors and their children.

Disturbed

I have been surfing the net trying to organize my ideas and maybe find some new ones. While looking at a haunt in MI I got upset and had to get out of it. I know different strokes for differnt folks when it comes to haunting, but ****...these people had a room with babies stabbed and eaten, blood everywhere and pics of what looked like dead children that had been mutilated. I couldn't take it. To me that is not scary but disturbing as I have had to fight so hard to have my child and have fought so hard only to lose some. Ah well, I won't dwell on it.

I am rearranging, reworking the trail, trying to make it work and be scary. I am probably putting too much into it, the woods at night are scary anyway.

Trouble

I have paper mached another skull, very awesome looking I might add, and want to have a body with this one but having trouble creating that part. The head is heavy with the neck attached but I will just keep persavering until I figure the damn thing out. It is so HOT outside I haven't been able to do much. We are hoping to get relief soon. Maybe then I can get the ball rolling again on the prop part of my life.

I have also been kicking around ideas for the party area. I always have to decorate some there too. I finally settled on a quote with Alarming Products for 2 masks and a head prop. When I get paid on the 31st I plan on ordering them. There is also several things in ABC which I want to get and decorate with mainly these two:

http://www.abcdistributing.com/home/catalog/cat_item_pg.asp?P=4&G=347

I can always figure a place for something like them.

Halloween Forum has started up a place called SinisterSpace and I have joined there. As usual I am unable to figure out uploading pics and stuff. My pics are too big and I can't figure out how to downsize them to fit into anything. I'll keep trying maybe get some pointers later from Empress or Deathtouch.

The Countdown Has Begun!

Merry Meet!

It's finally the week of 100 days until Halloween coundown for me.  I have been excited about it for some time now.  I can always feel it coming on and when it hits it hits like a freight train, here it comes, here comes Halloween!

Since last year was so chaotic for me I have decided to just have a very "Low Key" Halloween this year and just sit back and have fun and enjoy the Holiday as it was meant to be.  Let me sum up my experience last Halloween for you guys since I didn't have the energy to post it;  That morning I got up, showered, put my costume on, went and had lunch with my husband at his work place (where also everyone else was dressed for Halloween), came home, did some things around the house, went back to pick up my husband after work, and waited on the ToTs to arrive...  Now here is the catch..  The whole night the TOTAL ToTs we had were around 15.  It was a bust.  But those 15 ToTs did get some great surprises I gave out Halloween Pencils, glowsticks, and lots of treats.  By the time 9:00pm rolled around I had passed out fast asleep on the couch with the cauldron of candy in my lap witht he TV on a horror movie.  I felt the night was wasted because I was so exhausted from running my kitty tail off the whole month preparing for everything.  All in all, I think I worked TOO hard on Halloween last year!

So this year I am taking it very easy and just laying back and having fun.  Soon I am gonna start working on fun stuff to do during the month of October that will be relaxing and still fun for my whole family.  Also this year the hubby and I have decided to attend my cousins annual Halloween party at her house like we did year before last.  The only reason why I wanted to stay home last year was to see if we had any ToTs.  Since we did not have many at all I think we will skip it again this year.

Looking forward to the coming months.  This Halloween is gonna be a blast!

Queen of Darkness

I received the best compliment from my son-in-law this weekend. We had a big fish fry in the garage where I am working on alot of props. Someone made a comment about the skeletons, heads, etc. and Tim said, "that's just my mother-in-law, she's the Queen of Darkness." I really liked that one and appreciated it in a way most people, other than other haunters, would never understand.

Paper mached a beauty salon head last evening, we will see how it turns out for the spider victim props. I think they can be used.

Also about 8:45PM when Jacob and I had went up to get ready for bed (Tim working) I heard a knock on the door. I figured it was my brother Darius, no, I got a treat, FED EX had delivered my 3 new skulls from ACC and now I can start paper maching them and working on a prop or two for the graveyard. It's the small things in life ya know, ACC skulls, etc....

Vacation Over

I am now back from vacation and back at work. I am not sure one could call what I just went through a "vacation" with all the house cleaning, cooking and large number of family in and out of the house. But I wasn't at work, I could sleep in and spend time with Jacob and also able to work on props and work out more trail ideas.

I completed the neck and head for Johnny Appleseed, thanks to John at Pumpkinrot and Mark--Deathtouch, I think he turned out great. I will posts pics as soon as I have him mounted. Tim is supposed to help finish that out this weekend. I stained my Bart and he turned out good too. I didn't take the time to "corpse" him but I bet I could if I tried. In the words of Cousin Gage who helped, "they look wicked awesome!" I thought so too. I was also able to drag out alot of things stored and was able to figure out what props I already had, what I need to buy, etc. I also decided to keep my charity the March of Dimes and not change this year like I did last year.

Next thing I am going to start working on is the spider victims. I am going to try and paper mache a head I received from a local beauty salon. I think I could possibly make the heads into a prop piece for the spider victim then wrap it in the comforter lining to look like bodies in spider webbing. I am thinking about purchasing a hand that moves by battery to be in one webbing to look as if the person is still alive. Gross huh?

Still working on uniforms. I took Gage to Ft. Donelson and while there finished buying my Union and Confed hats for the scareactors. We had an excellent day for exploring and tried to get a few ideas from what was there. I believe the trail needs just some fine tuning. I am sending copies of everything to Damon for finalizing all the details (if possible.) Time is winding down and I am trying to get things bought and made as much as possible so the expense won't be so bad in October. Of course the food expense and all the etcs. are bad no matter what. Soon to start planning the party area and food. More later...Peace...

Halloween in June pictures

These are the only two pictures that I had the chance to take while working the Fright Fest NH haunt earlier this month...

I'm the good looking one in the middle...lol!

That is the costume I wore for 5 hours straight.  It was brutal hot in the building nevermind in the costume.  It was fun though, spooking never gets boring...
