Got a Great Pic!

Posted by Pandora

I had to post this picture, just because I think it came out really well.  Probably my best pic ever of the ghost AND the crypt.  Check out more of my pics on PhotoBucket at http://photobucket.com/albums/b314/PANDORA9393/

Head In A Jar

I think this prop looks great. Easy to make too. Take a look at the original here.

Bandwidth Blues

Posted by ScareFX

I got a warning from my web hosting company that my bandwidth for the month is almost gone. I do not want to upgrade my package for the entire year just to meet the demand for this single month.  I have removed all the images and video clips from the site to keep it from being locked. Sorry if you see broken image links over the couple of weeks. They will be back soon.

Flaming Extreme Pumpkin

Posted by ScareFX

That wacky guy Tom over at extremepumpkins.com has a video of a flaming demon pumpkin. He used kerosene soaked toilet paper to keep it burning for 45 minutes. Great stuff!

Our FCG Is Flying

Posted by ScareFX

I put another prop on display early this year.

I rigged up "Vicky" to fly in our guest room dormer above the Pumpkinrot Scarecrow.

The picture was shot at f/4.5 for 25 seconds. She's not as bright as the image.

Night-shot of Scarecrow

Posted by ScareFX

In the years past, I've really never put any props out before Halloween. I love the "magic" that comes with a display "appearing" on the big day and "disappearing" late that night. But I decided to put selected items out early this year. Last night  I put up our Pumpkinrot Scarecrow. Tonight I took a pic.

Grossferatu

Posted by ScareFX

I know. I said I was not going to buy any more props this season. But I'm a sucker for a good deal.

I bought a Grossferatu prop from Fright Catalog for $39.99. It had been priced at $99. He arrived today. I had read that some folks thought the paint job was too dull. But I like it. I wish the lips and eyes were a little less pink but overall I think he's a pretty creepy dude.

Not enough Halloween decorating but...

Posted by Larry

I guess that I am not doing too much Halloween stuff myself this year other then online and the sites.

Many of you that know me or know of me know that I work really hard and really have not made much time for a social life.  I decided to make up for it.    I have been going out a lot and doing things to keep my sanity (yes, there really is some left).

Blurry, but a beginning

Well came home from work today and started right in until 11:00 p.m.  Got most of my set up done: tombstones, FCG, Fred, lights.  Still missing sound and some more lights.  The half coffin (buried alive style; can't see it in this pic) needs lights inside, sensor and a shiatsu massager.  My change up of Madmax's idea.  I want it set up with the sensor so when it's tripped a light shines up from inside and the massager will have a pvc pipe with chain attached that will start banging and clanging inside.  We'll see how that works!!

Crystal Ball Effect

Posted by Larry

I actually got a chance to play around with decorating a little.   I was playing with the "Big Scream TV" stuff http://www.bigscreamtv.info

They sell a DVD to help make an illusion of a crystal ball.   With the help of the DVD, a TV, ball prop and plexi-glass.   It looks pretty darn cool.

Slow, slow, slow

Posted by Pandora

Well, I was moving along well, but kind of got stalled.  I've been feeling really lousy all week/month, so I was home sick on Tuesday.  Monday night the winds started up and haven't stopped yet.  Gusting all day/night about 30-40 mph.  Pillars keep falling over and Fred (my big monster mud guy) fell and scared the crap out of me this morning by hitting the shelf on the outside of my bedroom window.  So, I can't really put anything else out (particularly the ghost or tombstones) until the lousy wind quits.  Like the fires weren't bad enough!!!  Oy vay!!

the big push

Posted by Headless Horseman

This week and into this weekend we will be getting our haunt into shape!  I really want to get the fence and Horseman up tonight if at all possible, shouldn't be any reason not to.  I will start getting other props ready to go out this weekend.  We're having friends and family over on Saturday that have said they'd like to help out this year.  I'm going to go over the whole layout of the haunt and see what people would like to do and take it from there.  I'm really hoping the everyone who's told us they'd like to help actually do, it'll bring our haunt up a level to have some more live actors involved.  If they do all want to do stuff I may extend the walk further into the woods too!!  I'll get some pictures of us setting up soon....

We're Getting There.

Posted by Pandora

So the crypt, fence, Fred (the big guy) and the buried alive coffin are up.  All need cosmetic tweaking, especially the crypt.  The step got snapped off in the move.  But it's coming together.

Rolling, rolling, rolling....

Posted by Pandora

Keep that crypt-a-rollin'!!!!  This is my husband, brother-in-law and his friend rolling out the crypt on Sunday using two motorcycle jacks.  Later they transferred it to PVC pipe and rolled it "caveman style".  It took a few hits, but it's up and in place.  YAY!!!!!!!!!

Our Pumpkinrot Scarecrow

My son and I got our scarecrow built this afternoon. We could not let another year pass by without having one in our little yard haunt. The inspiration is here: http://www.pumpkinrot.com/pages/Page3.htm

We decorate mostly for our party each year. We don't get many TOT's. Brenda and I were married at our party in 2003. We have a great time and I enjoy making new props to use each year.
