New COB Forum

Posted by Larry

Horray!   I finished the conversion of the CavernsOfBlood.com forum. http://www.cavernsofblood.com/forum/

The old script was fine for a small forum, but was just not keeping up.

There are MANY new features in our forum. Make sure that you explore and make the most of it.

A few of the new major features:

* Private Messages: Send a private message to other members.

* Subscribe to Threads: You can be notified via email when someone replies to your post.

* Polls

* Much Much more.

We will be implementing other features in the near future. We will be working to replace some of the broken images etc. soon.

There will also be little "tweaks" here and there to continue to improve.

Costume Magazine

Posted by Larry

I moved http://www.costumemagazine.com from an ASP/Windows server to a linux server.   The growth potential was limited.  Right now the site has ideas for costumes and where to purchase costumes.   Hopefully will get a chance to greatly enhance this site later in the season.   I would be happy to accept submssions of content for the site.

HalloweenShopper.com now in beta testing.

Posted by Larry

Announcing the beta-launch of HalloweenShopper.com.

We help Halloween consumers find the lowest and best quality products from
many Halloween oriented stores. We do not sell any products. We offer an
unbiased service that helps a consumer choose the right products with inexpensive prices and where to buy it.

To Online Merchants:
If you sell costumes, props, novelties or any other Halloween/Horror related merchandise then we would like to work with you. Our site will be similar to shopping.com and pricegrabber.com but specialize in Halloween merchandise. We will list your products at no cost (FREE). Please send an email to info@halloweenshopper.com as soon as possible for more info and/or to get started.

To Consumers:
HalloweenShopper.com will help you find the costumes and props that you are looking for and compare the prices from multiple stores as well as read and submit reviews. The site will be launching soon.

Let’s get ready for the 2006 season.

2006!

Posted by Larry

It is time!   I have started working hard on the network of sites for Halloween 2006.   All kinds of big changes.

Changed to a new banner/text ad system.  Added a server, migrated some sites from Windows to Linux (still a bunch more to do).

I just made 2006 advertising packages available at http://www.HalloweenAdvertising.com

I am currently working on CavernsOfBlood.com.   Going to do some major changes and additions for the season.

2006 is going to be a great year!

Plans for 2006

Posted by Headless Horseman

Well, since I've seen DeathTouch getting so much stuff done already I've decided to at least get some things into the planning stage.  I have been inspired by some stuff I've seen him do and antoher haunter here in NH.  We have a few somewhat major projects to get going on, new pirate ship area, new UFO, additional walls for the castle, the ever elusive "Pepper's Ghost" and a dragon prop to beat all dragon props this side of Universial Studios...

I have a good idea about most of these and I will start work on them as soon as I can, I will have to in order to actually have any for Halloween 2006.  I will keep you all updated as to the progress, or lack there of...and will definaltey have photos as I go along...

Halloween 2005 photos

Finally had a chance to get this done, only a couple months late....lol!

Our Pirates will be getting a new ship for next year, I hope.

The guy was hanging arounf deep in the woods...

We added a bridge over our stream this year, we may have spilled some

bad stuff in there, not quite sure where the glow came from...

Our hall of doors, we had some surprises in and around these this year...

The graveyard out front, the Headless Horseman keeps an eye on the place...

The electric chair, this will get some upgrades for next year...

The "a frame" creature, he needs some real help for 2006, his eyes are about

the only thing that'll stay the same...

Julia's Banshee, he kept our guests on the right path deep in the woods...

The Badseed, he'll go back to a "live" gag in 2006, he just stood there this year...

Snow comes early to Virginia this year

Richmond has roughly a 2 percent chance of seeing a snow of 4 inches or greater during the first 10 days of December. The 50-1 shot occurred yesterday.

Big Flop!!

Posted by Pandora

Well as of today, my fundraiser was a huge FLOP.  A little discouraging, but I'll figure out something else.  I'm trying to get back into the forum and posting on my blog and others.  After Halloween, I usually end up completely checking out of Halloween for a little while.  I checked out the forum today, posted a little.  I really dig skullandbone's website and his grave diggers are an awesome idea. I think I'll work on that once I pump him for information....

I hope everyone is doing well and had a great Thanksgiving.  If anyone has any good fundraising ideas, I'm all ears!!!  I'm walking 12 miles on Saturday for marathon training and planning next Halloween in my head - LOL!!

Halloween 2005 results

Posted by Headless Horseman

I'm so late posting this but here goes.  We had around 250 or so people come through our haunt over two nights, more or less the same as last year.  We raised about $145.00 for breast cancer research, not much but it's better than nothing.  We had a ton of people say they couldn't wait for us to run the haunt, said they'd been last year and will be back next year too.  It's great to hear that people like what we're doing.  We had a lot of help this year getting setup and running the haunt, that helped a ton!  Wasn't nearly as crazy getting ready for guests as last year was, hopefully it's even easier next year.

We extended the haunted woods further into the back yard.  The new path went out over a little stream that runs through our property.  My cousin and I built a bridge over it and most guests loved it, some turned around and didn't go any further...LOL!  We have a ton of plans for new gags for next year and have a few new people interested in helping out.  With any amount of luck Fitzy's Fright Fest 4 will be bigger and badder...

I will post pictures very soon...

A Successful '05

Posted by ScareFX
The weather this Halloween was fantastic. We had nearly 100 kids ring the doorbell for candy and at least 50 or 60 adults visit our yard haunt. It was a beautiful night for Trick-or-Treating.

Fellow HalloweenForum and BlogCrypt member Vikeman, his wife Brenda, and new baby Blake stopped by for a visit. It was really nice to meet them.

I took some long exposure photos. Here's one of the shots at the end of the night. The lighting was not as bright as it appears.
