7/22/2005 - Moving Props
Over the past 7 years all of my prop have been pretty much static. Tombstones, Skeletons, Yardboys, etc. The only exception has been my Werewolf prop that had a oscillating fan for a head, he is set up with a motion detector and when activated his head moves from side to side and a tape player blares out howls and growls.....but that had been the extent of my moving props.
Last year I worked on a couple more. The first one was an arm on a corpse that would flail up and down when you triggered it, but I could never get it to work correctly so I abandoned it. The second one was a hanging man prop that was supposed to flail around when triggered and it worked for the most part, but I ran out of time and didn't get to do the tweaks that I wanted to. Then Halloween Night, just before dark, his wiring came undone inside and I was unable to fix it so he just hung there.....so pretty much last year was a failure on the moving prop front.
This year I am dedicating most of my time to get a couple of moving props working 100%. I just ordered 2 windshield wiper motors from Allelectronics and have a couple of ideas for them. I also plan on revamping the moving arm and hanging man prop this year.
